Design Elements

The obverse and reverse designs of the Banner consist of:

Obverse Background. The obverse features a background of azure blue satin cloth, with the Sturt’s Desert Pea in each corner representing 6 Wing.

Torch of Knowledge – Encompasses the training aspect of the squadron and was part of the design of the school where the flight was initially formed and operated from.

Crossed Swords – Encompasses the military connection and also the fact that 9 Flight was the original home of 6 Squadron’s drill team.

Wings – Aviation connection and represents the flight of 9 Flight from its original home to its present home at Warradale. Scrolls. Two scrolls of black text on yellow read ‘AUSTRALIAN AIR FORCE CADETS’ at the top and 609 Squadron at the base.

Reverse The reverse features a background of azure blue satin cloth, with the Sturt’s Desert Pea in each corner representing 6 Wing. The AAFC Crest is placed in the centre.
