About Us

609 Squadron Australian Air Force Cadets are located within Warradale Army Barracks in South Australia.

609 Squadron were originally combined with 610 Squadron but as of 2010, 610 has closed down,
leaving 609 Squadron as the only active Australian Air Force Cadets squadron located at Warradale barracks.

Our Squadron cadets engage in many Squadron based electives and activities such as bivouacs, 
Air Experience flights and adventure activities for example high ropes, abseiling and canoeing. 
There is also the opportunity to engage in Activities with other squadron for example caving.

Cadets of 609 Squadron can also attend Wing activities for example, GST General Service training Camp (GST)
These provide a unique experience for the cadets and include a range of activities for example visiting 
Air Research Development Unit (ARDU) , Australia's 7th Royal Australian Regiment (7RAR) and occasionally
 cadets get the opportunity to fly in Royal Australian Air Force aircraft.

609 Squadron has cadets and staff coming from all walks of life.
